Cindy Widuck is an associate lecturer at Kent State University College of Public Health. She was instrumental in developing the Community Based Public Health Concentration in the college and teaches various classes through experiential learning practices. She was also instrumental to the development of the first Community Health Worker program in Portage County, training CHW’s to address the Social Determinants of Health in the community. She helped develop the Let’s Grow Together Coalition to implement Farm to School initiatives and gardens and nutrition in Portage county. She is passionate about public health: environment, sustainability, food insecurity, housing insecurity, and fair wages. She loves the outdoors and gardening and sharing with the community. Her repurposing and art projects contribute funds to help run programs in the community.

John is a passionate cook and gardener; his current goal is to get 50 pounds of tomatoes from a single beefsteak plant!
Annette Kratcoski, Ph.D., is Director of Kent State University’s Research Center for Educational Technology (RCET), where she leads teacher training, research and outreach projects focused on the study of innovative technologies in formal and informal learning settings. Prior to joining RCET in Fall 2000, she worked as a speech-language pathologist in clinical and school settings and also in special education and curriculum coordination in the public schools. With over thirty years of experience in curriculum and STEM, she works closely with K-12 schools and partners to promote the use of pedagogical strategies and tools for teaching and learning.
Dr. Albert Barber is a semi-retired pharmacist. He currently serves on the operations team for an NIH-funded Healing Communities study to address opioid addiction in Cuyahoga and Ashtabula counties. Al also serves on the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Portage County. He is a Portage County Master Gardener volunteer and was instrumental in the creation of the AMETEK Food Forest Gardens at the Windham Renaissance Center and the Food Forest Gardens at the new Haven of Portage.
Mindy Gusz, RN, is a Community Outreach Nurse at UH Portage Medical Center where she is passionate and engaged in community health while trying to ensure equitable access to health resources. Throughout her career across multiple states, Mindy has worked to connect and enhance health care services for individuals to improve patient outcomes. She does this by building relationships and bringing a sense of wellness to communities that may not have equal access to care. She was part of the founding team that created and developed the AMETEK Food Forest Gardens at the Windham Renaissance Center and is now delighted to be part of the Let’s Grow Together team. She is a third generation Ohioan who loves to garden, cook, and be active outside, no matter the weather!
Kylee is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Community Development and Outreach. She is working under Executive Director Cindy Widuck to manage and organize interns, events, educational programs, and outreach efforts for the organization. Kylee joined LGTC in the Fall of 2022 as a volunteer, becoming a Community Partner Advocate shortly after, then going on to complete the summer 2023 KSU undergraduate research program to address how an educational gardening approach can reduce food insecurity within communities. She is excited to continue her work in the organization, managing programs and interns and working within the community to build connections.
Michelle (she/her) is a senior at Kent State, double majoring in communication studies and economics. She is participating in Let's Grow Together Coalition as a Community Partner Advocate - Communication Intern supporting internal and external correspondence for the coalition. Michelle joined LGTC to gain nonprofit experience and become more involved in the community while creating a positive impact. She is excited to spread and support the positive experience and messaging promoted by LGTC.
Owen is a Senior at Kent State University majoring in Digital Media Production and minoring in Creative writing. Owen wanted to work with LGTC because it would allow him to work for a good cause while gaining the experience of working closer to the community. He is currently working as a communications intern, helping spread our positive message through all of our major communication outlets. Owen hopes to expand the range of what we can do to engage with the community online, as well as learn how to garden.
Estefania is an international student at Kent State University and is currently volunteers for LGTC. She is pursuing a double major in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Nonprofit Studies. She joined LGTC in 2021 to feel more connected with the community and create a positive change in the lives of children. Now, thanks to her experiences at LGTC gardening is one of her favorite activities, and loves to help us at the farmers market.
Molly is a kindergarten teacher at Walls Elementary School in Kent. She loves working with children, spending time with her family, reading, and being outdoors. She enjoys taking her students to the school garden to explore and observe. She loves seeing their big smiles when digging in the dirt and finding worms. Molly is looking forward

Heidi is a 3rd Grade Teacher at Walls Elementary School, in Kent. She really enjoys being able to incorporate all the hands-on learning experiences that the garden brings to the kids! Getting to dig in the soil always makes things more fun! Heidi is looking forward to being able to expand her students' time in the garden, and to continue

Max Swartout teaches music at Walls Elementary School where he also helps facilitate the Reduce Waste Program in partnership with LGTC and Rubber City Reuse. Eliminating waste and teaching consumer responsibility to students are passions of his. Max loves eating his lunch at the table right outside the garden at Walls.
